I don’t want to jinx anything…but it might not rain this weekend.

Before the gods come down and curse me for even daring to say that, get thee to Marin. Or Sonoma. Go north, my friends.

In the first gasps of Spring, is there anything better than Marin? After the rains, the rolling hills are luscious green, not yet golden (re: dry)  from the summer sun. Wildflowers burst out of every corner. Entire fields are covered in blooming yellow wood sorrel.

Add in some damp redwoods and a mossy waterfall or two, and it’s the most pleasant, relaxing day of your life.

Here’s a round up of our favorite waterfall hikes in Marin. All are absolutely perfect for little kids — flat with lots of interest and bridges and burgling brooks.

Dawn Falls Trail

Cascade Canyon in Fairfax (steps lead to the top of the waterfall, with lots of safety features, so great for kids)

Samuel P. Taylor Park

If you want more, Ronnie’s Awesome List has a great roundup of waterfall hikes as well.

Happy hiking!
